I will be at the Stumptown Comics Fest ([link], at Portland's Lloyd Center Double Tree Hotel on Saturday April 18th and Sunday the 19th (I'm booth #113!).  It is a con focused on comics, small press, and independent art.  I'll be debuting my newest comic, A Room of One's Own ([link] ([link], picking up new reads, and, hopefully, meeting lots of people.

I am also in a gallery in Portland right now:

Oy. There is a serious lack of regular, new art here. The problem is, aside from being a full-time student, I spend my time doodling in my notes and sketchbooks--and that's rarely good enough to post here--or making sequential pages, which I usually post elsewhere (sites that make it easy to read comic stories). I really don't do pin-up or fan art much, but I'd like to the next time I find myself without a project on my hands. On my plate for Things To Do When I Have Time And No Project:

1) Learn to ink with a brush
2) Study color theory
3) Learn to watercolor better
4) Study anatomy
5) Practice landscapes and backgrounds
6) Full-color, full-size art for original stories
7) Fan art

It may take me a while to get down that list. @__@

I have a new shop www.tallychyck.etsy.com, where I'm selling my original artwork and minicomics!  Please check it out! :D

I highly recommend Etsy for low-risk art stores, since it is absolutely free to start a store, $.20 to list an item, and Etsy only takes 3.5% of the final sale.  Awesome, right?!

My friend Paul made this for my Christmas present! Most thoughtful gift ever!!! He says he's been casting the voice actors/actresses for months. Awwwww...!  The story's embarrassing...hello 2005...but I love seeing it like this!  You can read the original story here: [link]

Well, it was NOT clear enough to go out tonight...21st birthday party canceled! Dx But I sledded with my friends, built an igloo, had a snowball fight, ate tamales, and am having a couple of close friends over tonight for wine and a cheesy movie. :)

Still, it's unclear whether or not they can even make it through the neighborhood to my house! We are up to 14 inches in the Portland suburbs...a Biblical storm for us mild city folk. xD The news is literally covering the "snow crisis" 24/7.

I've been drawing about half of my waking hours during the big snow-in. Here's a preview of a piece from last month I've been trying to finish coloring.

A Room of One's Own is still on the desk, as are a couple of unfinished illustrations and the script for a little 12-page story.

Yeah.  The story is 50% thumbnailed, 50% borders drawn.  It will have to be a productive Thanksgiving Break for this to get done on time.  We'll see!

SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!  It's done and it's really being published.

Heya,

So there hasn't been much new art this summer: a page of The College Life, a couple new Out of Place pages, and a pin-up or two, but not enough for 3 months of down-time at home.  The reason is that I'm working on a project for an anthology and I'm putting everything into it lately.  Hopefully that will be worth the wait when it comes out (fingers still crossed that nothing will go wrong and it WILL come out). ;) Deadline is Oct 1, and then I will theoretically have time for other art again.

Please be patient with me. ><

Happy Uprise-of-Modern-France Anniversary! :D

My final project from Global Climate Change class is up on Youtube.  I made 3 short, sort-of-animated videos illustrating environmental issues.  They've actually been up for a month, but I haven't linked them here yet.  ...They need music.

I put The College Life on SmackJeeves this week ([link], where it's easier to navigate and I think will pick up some new readers.  There are 6 new strips on my desk now, waiting to be scanned and finished!

First, some plugs:

I posted a time-lapse drawing on youtube yesterday.  It's my first one, and the camera angle is awful, but you can still see the picture coming along. ([link]

Also, I set up a myspace for art networking.  If you're on myspace, stop by and friend me! ([link]

Lastly, Out of Place chapter 6, page 14 will be up tonight at midnight, and 15 is already done for Thursday. ([link]

In other news, I went out to the Iron Man premier last night, and absolutely loved it.  I went in already a fan, so my view is biased, but nevertheless I thought it was VERY well done and entertaining.  Definitely worth seeing!!  And if you go, stay for something extra after the credits~~ ;)
