Much of Europe has gone out of its way for centuries to eradicate all nature in its large cities, and most "real" nature entirely, barring a few exceptions (mostly Nordic and some Germanic - good on ya).  When I was in Europe, the most wildlife I tended to see were especially vicious pigeons.

There are a great many things wrong with the United States - too many to list here.  But we do still have a wilderness.

Haha! as a typical city dweller, it wasn't until I moved out into the country that I realized how much I was missing by way of nature. City folk have it rough!

I speak French around the B2 level and I'm here on a year-long student visa.  I'm improving my French, seeing Europe for the first time and trying to visit as many cities/countries as possible, drawing as I go, and meeting artists and people who work in comics/animation. :) I'm keeping a blog about it here: homeiswheretheinternetis.blogs…

LOL! Oh no, I don't want to turn anyone off from Paris! It's gorgeous, it's just that I come from Oregon, with old growth forests and green everywhere...7 weeks in a big city is weird for me. :,D

You're probably right.  It's just, there are places like NYC that have parks big enough to feel a liiiiittle bit like you're not in a city anymore.  I've heard I should try the big parks on the edge of Paris if I want that feeling -- Bois de Vincennes and Bois de Boulogne.

yes, big cities are out of this world, i would never live in a big city, my apreciation for them is purely asthetic and cultural.
